Staff from sister nurseries in Essex have raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK, taking part in a Race for Life event.
The team of staff from Little Adventurers Nursery in Upminster and Shenfield Day Nursery in Brentwood, joined forces to compete in the 5k event on Saturday 18th May. They smashed their initial target of £850 after just two weeks of fundraising and were thrilled to have raised a grand total of £2,655 – plus £506 gift aid – for the worthy cause after crossing the finishing line.
It is the first time staff from both nurseries have come together to raise money for a charity so close to their hearts.
Chris Ford, business development manager for Little Adventurers Nursery and Shenfield Day Nursery, said:
“We are so proud of our staff for coming together and showcasing their determination to raise vital funds for such a worthy cause. The staff had a brilliant time facing this challenge and the sense of team spirit really carried them through the race. We are so proud of them all and continue to support them with every challenge they choose to take on. The Race for Life event is the most recent fundraising activity the nurseries have participated in. They have also enjoyed dress up days in aid of Red Nose Day, Children in Need and World Book Day and proudly support their local foods bank with the help of staff, parents and children.”
In 2002, Shenfield Day Nursery proudly raised £300 for the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.
Both nurseries offer in-house training and Continuing Professional Development opportunities to support all members of staff.
Little Adventurers Nursery and Shenfield Day Nursery also hold regular team building events for its staff, with the teams recently enjoying raft building and It’s a knockout. The nurseries also host annual awards evenings and offer a variety of benefits as part of their Staff Wellbeing Programme.
