Old Shenfield Place easter

Children from Shenfield Day Nursery in Brentwood had a wonderful time celebrating

Easter with residents at Old Shenfield Place care home.

They took part in a wonderful Easter egg hunt in the care home’s garden. The pre-school children could be seen hopping around the garden, searching for the chocolatey treats the Easter bunny had left behind.

The event brought so much joy, fun and laughter to both the children and care home residents alike. The children couldn’t wait to share their eggs with the residents!

Chris Ford, business development manager at Shenfield Day Nursery, said, “We feel so privileged to be able to build this relationship with our local care home; the benefits are twofold. Our children get to build bonds with the lovely residents, learning how to interact with the older generation who they may not have the opportunity to otherwise mix with. In turn, Old Shenfield Place residents feel valued and treasure this special time spent meeting our little ones who enjoy sharing homemade gifts, playing a game or even singing with residents. Such intergenerational bonds are very precious and unique.”

Shenfield Day Nursery has become a regular visitor to Old Shenfield Place, with the children previously visiting the home on 17th February to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day.

To mark this special day, the children gifted the care home residents with love heart stickers, adorned with positive quotes and chocolate-covered strawberries they had made the day before.

The bond between the two generations has continued to grow with subsequent visits. They have played indoor basketball, found fish in the pond, visited the sensory room and spent quality time with Otto, the care home’s dog.

Siobhan Pinnock, manager at Shenfield Day Nursery said: “The residents are always so lovely and so happy to see us all. The intergenerational relationship has blossomed and has had a huge impact on the children.”

Christina Duran, home manager at Old Shenfield Place added: “These visits have been a great way for our residents to socialise and connect with younger generations – the joy and laughter they share is truly priceless.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the lovely children and teachers from Shenfield Day Nursery again soon and hope to continue this in the future.”
